They are laughable and that makes us, the voters here in South Texas, a part of the joke. These assholes are in office because we continue to elect them....despite their incompetence. We don't just accept political incompetence....we seems to demand it. We are part of the political joke.
DEMOCRATS BOO LUCIOS AT CONVENTION
Both State Senator "Sucio" Eddie Lucio and State Representative Eddie Lucio "The Turd" were lustily booed the Democratic State Convention in Austin this weekend. Tim Kaine, the Virginia governor and keynote speaker, expressed the majority's view when he thundered from the podium, "I contend that the Lucio father and son team will have a more deleterious effect upon our party than the Bush father and son team has had on the Republicans.
The Lucios aren't Democrats. They are opportunists. Come out of the closet, you bastards." The entire throng erupted into wild applause, but it was Rick Noriega, candidate for U.S Senator, who electrified the crowd with his straight talk. "I know State Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. and he is a piece of shit," began the candidate. "And I know State Representative Eddie Lucio III and he is a piece of crap. They both belong in the toilet and flushed out of our lives. We are trying to change the direction of our party, but old man Lucio, like old man Ortiz, are not only in favor of compadrismo; they want their children in elective office so they can rule without challenge.
Where are you, Senator Lucio? Raise your hand so I can see you. Is that you in the stupid bow tie? Fine. Where are you, Representative Lucio? I can't see you. There you are, next to your father, I should have known. Would you both please stand! Now get the fuck out of here, you traitors. We're tired of you milking millions from the special interests and mugging your own people." Suddenly the arena echoed with this chant: "Get the fuck out! Get the fuck out! Get the fuck out!" Bob Rivard, the managing editor of the San Antonio Express/News, offered this commentary on the Lucios' humiliating exit. "It was one of the saddest sights I have seen during my many years in journalism," he said. "They were figuratively tarred-and- feathered. I suppose the party needs to eliminate the Judases before it can embark on unity. I can't say that I was surprised by Senator Lucio's rejection after reading about his untrustworthiness in Texas Monthly, but I thought the assembly might cut the kid some slack. Apparently, he is paying for his father's many sins and a public rebuke might save the boy from the same disgraceful fate."
